Once while on my back porch reading, came a flock of ravens feeding
Taking turns to watch for danger following unspoken laws
Then the forest creatures stirred, chasing off the shiny birds
As if nature briskly calling, calling all the beaks and claws
There was a bird I will remember screaming out its ghostly caws
Quoth the raven, `Never was.’
Fractured Cliché: Quoth the raven, `Never was.’
Correct Cliché: Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.’
May the farce be with you!
Your IFF,
Pam
