“I Am….” These are the two most important words in the English language. Why? Whatever you put after these words “I am” define you, who you are and what you are. They can be great things like; “I am Amazing!”, “I am Successful!”, ” I am Loving and Caring” and more. They also can be negative like; “I am stupid”, “I am dumb”, “I am worthless” and so many others.  Unfortunately most peoples “I am’s” are negative and they spend their lives reacting and living in the world that way. They never are able to step out of that negative box they have put themselves into. Their negative “I am” has defined them as a person. So where did they get their negative “I am’s” from? Usually they are given to us as small children by other people. As a small child they hear adults (sometimes family members, teachers and others) say things to them like; ‘Don’t be stupid”, “Why are you so dumb, fat, ugly (you name it)?”, “You will never amount to anything”, “You are worthless” and the list could go on and on. As a child and even as an adult, if we hear something enough times (positive or negative) your subconscious mind will begin to act upon this message as being true and then it becomes true and it becomes your reality.

One of my great friends, Mark Papadas saw this as a growing problem in grade school age children and has created a foundation that is creating programs that go into our grade schools to help build the self esteem of our children. His foundation is called “IAM 4 Kids (www.iam4kidsfoundation.org) . In my mind nothing could be more important then our children having a strong self image of themselves. It is easier to build a strong child than it is to fix a broken adult.

So how do you change the negative self images you may have about yourself and change your “I Am”? You do it the same way you got the negative one, by repetition. Instead of repeating negative statement to yourself over and over, start writing and saying positive statements about yourself everyday. Start writing them down everyday in a notebook. Write things like; “I am Awesome”, I Believe in myself”, “I Love myself”, ” I am Worthy of all the great things in my life” and whatever else you need to write in that notebook to counter act the negativity in your mind. Next write three or four of the most important statements about yourself onto two index cards. Tape one of the cards to your bathroom mirror and put the other in your wallet or purse and LOOK AT THEM ALL DAY LONG, every chance you get. Change what you keep saying to yourself and you will change your life!

So if you ask me, “What am I?”…..I am Amazing!….are you?Greatest
