You have to get angry before you can get even.
You have to be outraged before you can rise to a new level of success.
You have to burn with intensity, ambition, and holy passion for getting to where you want to be.
It’s not a dream. It’s not a goal. It’s not even an obsession.
It’s a righteous indignation that you’re not already there yet.
It’s a burning in your core.
A simmering flame, fed by the obstacles and low expectations placed in your way.
You can’t just want to make more money. You need to burn with an urgency about why that extra money you need to make is so important.
You can’t just want to get promoted or land that dream job. You need to burn with anger that your own weaknesses and poor habits have held you back from getting to where you want to be thus far.
That flame is your fuel.
Logic will only get you so far when it comes to achieving success. Logic and a great plan, good mentors, a solid process, and reasonable discipline — they will only help you get just beyond mediocrity.
Just a little bit better than everyone else. Which probably isn’t as grand a goal as you expect for yourself.
What makes the difference is the rage that consumes you.
The indignation that empowers you. The ambition and will that drives you.
It’s deeply personal. Completely illogical.
But wholly instrumental in getting you to where you want to be.
Think about where you are right now and why you’re not closer to where you want to be. Think about the choices you’ve made and the obstacles you’ve put in your own way with poor planning and lazy behavior.
Think about what you could have done — and then determine in your soul that today is the day that you will start burning bright.
That flame will warm you when life is cold. It will empower you when you feel weak. It will show you the path when all you feel around you is darkness.
Feed the flame. Let’s burn this place down.
