Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s better. It just means it’s novel.

You’re probably excited because of how fresh it sounds right now. Your adrenaline is pumping.

You find yourself motivated, excited, and bursting with energy. You just learned something new.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better.

Timeless principles are never new. And they’re usually not all that sexy sounding.

It always sounds more exciting to work smart rather than working hard. But you’ll never accomplish success if you don’t work hard. It’s not new. It’s not sexy. But it’s the truth.

The same is true about “what goes around, comes around”. If you don’t respect others they won’t respect you. That’s not new or sexy or fun.

But it’s wildly important. Nothing new will change that.

From time to time it’s important to stop and think about the core principles that guide the decision you make. You’re going to waste a lot of time, effort, and money if all you do is chase what is new.

You’re never going to stick with anything long enough to achieve the success you talk about. Think about that the next time someone tells you about a sure fire way to get rich quick, lose weight fast, or shortcut the timeless principles of effort, kindness, or investment.

There’s nothing new about being “all in”.

That’s what has always been required. That is what will always be required.

You’ve have to jump in with both feet and do whatever it takes to get the results you say you want.

Sometimes what’s new it’s just an excuse for you not doing what you already know you should be doing.
