‘Twas the week before New Year’s
The most perfect time
To reflect on this year
Through a short poem that rhymes.
The U.S. is fraught
With people who wear
The burden of money
And jobs that aren’t there.
But this poem doesn’t focus
On sadness or fear,
It shines on the good
That happened this year.
The world was blessed
With a cutting-edge Pope
Who preaches forgiveness
Devotion and hope.
The birth of Prince George
Caused the monarch to sing,
Rejoicing a boy
Who’ll someday be king.
In spite of bad things like
The current recession,
Like Affleck as Batman,
Lance Armstrong’s confession,
The government shutdown,
Twerking and such,
2013 didn’t totally suck.
It gave us great songs like
Home, Suit and Tie,
Royals, Clarity, Daylight and Try.
Movies that scared
And took us to space,
That made us all laugh
And caused pulses to race.
There were many great parts
Of this marvelous year
For which I am thankful
And which I’ll say here:
Thank you for reading
The things that I write.
Happy New Year to all
And to all a good night.

May the farce be with you!

Live long and prosper
and please come back y’all!
