I want to give huge kudos to my father. My dad is retired but drives a school bus during the school year and this year was assigned a young boy on the autism spectrum who would be riding the bus for the first time.
This young boy was so anxious about not knowing exactly when the bus would arrive that his parents decided not to bus him after all.
My shy and soft-spoken father called this boys’ dad on the phone. My father disclosed that he too is an Aspie (on the spectrum) and offered assurances that he would be there to pick his son up and that he had nothing to worry about.
The boy has been enjoying his ride to school each day and even befriended a young lady who sits next to him each day on the ride to school.
Way to go Dad!
