When life doesn’t work out the way you thought where do you turn? Who do you talk to?
When life throws you a curveball what do you do? Who do you turn to?
About five years ago my mother-in-law had a stroke and was hospitalized and my wife Valerie needed to stay at her mom’s house in San Jose, CA. so she could be close to the hospital and be an advocate for her mom and the doctors. At that time we hosted a 90-day weight loss challenge at our nutrition center and by the end of each day, I felt a bit overwhelmed at the thought of not knowing how long Valerie would be gone and praying for help to get me through each week.
One of the most inspiring talks I came to love and cling to was by a man named Les Brown called It’s Possible on Youtube. I would listen to this talk every night before bed to stay encouraged and believe that is was possible for me to be a successful entrepreneur and at the end of the talk I would repeat to myself it’s possible, it’s possible and I could feel a faith well up inside me knowing everything would be alright.
When life seems too overwhelming please reach out to a trusted friend or family member, don’t try to go it alone. We all need someone in our lives to encourage and help us sort out thoughts and help us realize what is really happening and what is not real. I am very fortunate to have my wife talk to and I also have a coaches group I belong to help me sort things out if I need more help.
Today I have about half a dozen resources that I keep on hand during those times when I don’t feel very positive about my future and the most important resources I have are my imagination and a life mission statement or as Napolean Hill calls it a Definite Major Purpose. This is a statement that I read 3 times a day and visualizing every detail coming to pass and also imagining what it will feel like when I achieve it. I can see my ideal home, the amount of money I make and I have a life coaching business that is helping thousands of people and the most wonderful thing is I get to use my gifts and talents to do it. I am finally able to see how I can make a difference in the world.
